What a fantatstic Event!
10 July 2010
This year we held a 'World Cup Fiesta' for our annual Summer Event on the school field. It was a fantastic day - the sun shone - and we even managed to be in the flight path of the Red Arrows who were in the area!
The event was organised by a committed committee! lead by Shanta Hurford, and they put on a real treat with help from the School, the PTFA, the Uniformed Organisations and the Parish.
We had a visit from the world champion Football Free-styler, Rowen Pegler, aged just 17, who wowed the crowd with his amazing skills and then took time out to play keepy-uppy with the kids. The local Black Panther All-star Cheerleading squad were also on hand to entertain us all with their amazing skills.
African drummers and dancers helped keep us in the world theme and there was a fancy dress competition won by ‘Puyol’ of the Spanish national side! There was a world cup human table football competition, won by 'Maeve's Raves', food from the around the world, Mr Clown wandering around entertaining the crowds, cactus lassoing, panning for gold, a donut eating competition (with the winner eating 12 in 1 minute!) a Victorian tea room and even a Bush-Tucker Trial to try your hand at!!
At the end we were amazed to see members of the PTFA and Governors (cross) dressed up to perform a Grease medley for us! What a sight!
All in all, a wonderful day raising much needed funds for our Parish development, the school and the Uniformed organisations.
A huge thank you to all involved and all who supported the day.
